John’s Bio

All about John…

I am a down to earth family oriented fun loving fella with 5 grown children and 12 grandchildren. I am married to the wonderful Aileen who keeps me on the straight and narrow and keeps my diary and other paperwork in order. I have a wealth of driving experience from trucks to bikes and cars and experienced driving professionally in the uk and Europe. I moved from the Midlands to the North West for work and stayed because of the people. With family groups spread throughout the country I still get to experience long relaxing drives for pleasure when we are able to visit them.

I always seek to improve myself and those around me whenever and however I can.

Q & A

1. What did you do before becoming a Driving Instructor?

Almost every other role in transport and logistics. I have been an HGV driver. A transport Manager. A courier. A light haulage business owner. If it’s got an engine I’ll have a go.

2. What has been your most interesting moment, while on a driving lesson?

While teaching on an LGV lesson we had a tyre blow out at 50Mph. Trying to stay calm and instruct the young man driving to carefully steer to the hard shoulder and bring us to a safe stop was a tricky task.

3. What has been your best, personal achievement so far?

Being able to take on and raise my Granddaughter when her parents were unable to through no fault of their own. We made sure that she is growing up knowing her family and having a wonderful time as a child.

4. Did you pass your Driving Test first time?

Yes. Not just my car but also my HGV and ADI exams were all passed first time.

5. What hobbies do you have?

I love driving. I will quite happily after a long day behind the wheel, go for a drive to unwind. I also love my Xbox and spending time with my family and little dog Jake.
